A letter to our supporters from Director Hedwick Fonbeh:

Consider How God Can Give Through You...

Your passion to make a difference has won & this is why I am driven by a force which no one can compete against.

From day one, a band of believers decided to give me a scholarship to study in the USA: this was the beginning of Living Vine started by God's providential plan. We came together as a team with a common vision & united in One Spirit to care for the vulnerable in Cameroon, more specifically, the mentally disturbed loitering everywhere & who can't be controlled. Then it was like a dream but now is a reality.

You have been my committed sponsors, praying, giving dollars, building this center & helping me do the work to treat soul, mind and body because you care for the least of these... Cameroonians. You have had me at heart to support, for all the right reasons, to care/have concern for the mentally ill and abandoned, and to enable families through a holistic experience.

The need for Cameroonians to experience the love of God grows exponentially at this time in Cameroon's history, in the English speaking regions, where war is raging daily with all kinds of atrocities committed.

You have accomplished this building roofed it & now finishing this building to use it completely moves forward. We continue to meet the government requirements for a full care clinic.

You can see all I do with the funds. I am always shrewd the way I spend money even my family & the dollars you give for this building I have not & can never allow any use for anything other than this work.

I am troubled seeing the great need of the vulnerable attracted to me because they can find no where and no one else to help them. Only Living Vine Clinic can address these mental health needs.

On a Christmas day, I visited a state police detention jail & saw young people scrambling to receive the drinks I got for them & was most troubled as some voiced they were held there for nothing. I could only say they should have hope it will be okay and left.

The youths have substance abuse problems, are entangled in worsening political freedom fight & cobwebs of many other crimes/poverty issues; and
above all mental illnesses.

Yet, no one cares or is concerned about this other than us.

Living Vine's Christ-centered treatment is the greatest hope for the hopeless.

I have an obligation before God to each of you to create a real change, to help the mentally disturbed, share Jesus Christ as the only answer, & spend money wisely in this endeavor.

Most witnessed that I never desire to exploit you or drain you even when you gave me a full scholarship. I never wasted money & carefully controlled my consumption behavior. Even when I could have chosen a private expensive rooms, etc. I never took your aid for granted but knew I represented many who wanted me to work hard so that others can have opportunities to receive more care which is the case now with Living Vine Clinic.

You have the compassion to help me and I have the conscience to care for all including you.

If you were not rich in Christ & sacrificing to bless me so much like this, there is no way I could achieve this work. I am accountable to represent you for this care of the mentally disturbed/hopeless. Thanks to your support & God will bless you.

Only God is building these services through you & thank you!

What is happening in Cameroon at this time of war is horrible, children/adults/males/females living in bushes, some with family members shot, many killed, houses burned. There is a real mental health care needs emergency. Helping the populations process all these horrors with our finished Clinic Center is key to convincing state officials that we are up to the task.

Please, may you not afford to relegate this project at the back of your priorities that it is too much, but give any amount your heart tells you at this time. I am convinced God shall reward you as you give to finish it.

God's Blessings!
Hedwick
